How To Make Mushroom Masala Indian Restaurant Style Step By Step With Images
Mushroom masala or Mushroom curry |
Mushroom masala is a delicious Indian curry made with Mushroom, capsicum, tomatoes, onions, spices and herbs. It is simple to cook and taste delicious. It goes so well with plain rice, jeera rice, roti, plain paratha, etc. In this post, I have shared a very simple to make and has a curry base mushroom recipe at home. We know that, Mushrooms are cholesterol free, fat free and low in calories and sodium. They are categorised as a vegetable. They are good source of iron, potassium, fiber, zinc, vitamin C, protein and many more nutrients.

It is an Indian style mushroom masala or gravy recipe which is goes very well with plain rice, jeera rice, roti and plain paratha.
Preparation Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Ingredients :
Mushroom 150gms
Onions 2 large (1 roughly chopped and 1 cubed)
Tomatoes 2 large (chopped)
Capsicum 2 medium size (cubed)
Ginger 1 inch (chopped)
Garlic 2-3 cloves (chopped)
Green chilli 2 pcs.

Oil / butter 2 tablespoons
Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/4 teaspoon
Bay leaf 1
Green cardamoms 2 pcs.
Cinnamon 1 inch
Cloves 2 pcs.
Cloves 2 pcs.
Red chilli powder 3/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
Turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon
Garam masala 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon
Salt as per need
Coriander leaves
Cream 2 tablespoons (fully optional)
How to cook Mushroom masala recipe step by step with images at home
- Take a pan, heat 1/2 tablespoon oil and pour 1 large roughly chopped onions on it. Fry it until onions get translucent.
Frying Onion |
- After that add tomatoes, garlic, ginger, green chilli, fry it until tomatoes get mashed. Off the flame and let it cool.
- Grind it by using mixer grinder and make a smooth paste.
Smooth paste |
- Take a same pan, heat 1/2 tablespoon oil or butter, add cubed onion saute it for 2 minutes, then add cubed capsicum saute for 2 minutes. Take out this and keep aside.
Light fry |
- In a same pan, pour mushrooms and fry it for 2 minutes. Remember that do not fry too much, it causes the mushrooms get ruberry. Take out these mushrooms and keep them aside.

- Next step is to take a pan or Kadhai, heat 1 tablespoon oil or butter. Then add cumin seeds, green cardamoms, cloves, cinnamon and bay leaf. Saute them 30 seconds. Then add puree (smooth paste) which is already made in above step.

- After that, add on it red chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder and salt as per required. Saute it for 8 minutes until, the gravy turned into an organic red colour.

- The next process is pour all the ingredients which is already fry in above step, like fried onions, capsicum and mushrooms. Saute it for 2 minutes and then add some water on it and cover it with lid for 10 minutes in medium flame.

- At last, open the lid and sprinkle some coriander leaves on it. Cover the lid for 1-2 minutes in low flame. Now, the mushroom masala or mushroom gravy recipe is ready to serve. Look it seems very yummy and tasty. We can serve it with roti, basmati rice, plain rice and plain paratha.
